Result: Valencia sign off La Liga campaign with victory over Deportivo La Coruna

Simone Zaza and Goncalo Guedes find the net as Valencia pick up a 2-1 win over relegated Deportivo La Coruna on the final day of the La Liga campaign.

Valencia have rounded off their successful La Liga campaign with a 2-1 win over relegated Deportivo La Coruna at the Mestalla.

The fate of both sides had already been confirmed well before the final weekend, as Los Che were guaranteed to end fourth and their opponents could finish no higher than 18th.

On a day of celebration for the home side, who will be back in the Champions League after a two-season absence, Simone Zaza and Goncalo Guedes netted prior to Lucas Perez's late consolation.

With just six league wins to their name all campaign, two of which came in quick succession last month, Deportivo were nearly behind early on when Nikola Maksimovic met Carlos Soler's cross.

Rodrigo then shot wide of Maksym Koval's target with a powerful shot once picked out by Dani Parejo, as Valencia looked to mark the 95th anniversary of their home ground with a final-day win.

The breakthrough goal arrived just short of the half-hour mark, Zaza celebrating his Italy World Cup call with a low shot from inside the box that crept in at the far post.

Parejo and Rodrigo both tried their luck either side of half time, while Maksimovic climbed highest to meet a corner and saw his effort skim the top of the crossbar.

After Zaza became the second home player to hit the frame of the goal, Guedes had a long-range effort pushed around the post and then stabbed home from his next chance.

Perez did manage to pull one back 10 minutes from time with a simple finish from 10 yards, before Juame produced a couple of smart stops to help his side hold on for all three points.
