Patrick van Aanholt signs a new four-year deal with Sunderland, keeping him at the club until 2020.

Patrick van Aanholt has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with Sunderland.

The 25-year-old has committed his future to the Black Cats following their Premier League survival last season, with his new contract keeping him at the Stadium of Light until 2020.

Van Aanholt joined from Chelsea in 2014 and has since gone on to make 69 appearances for Sunderland, scoring five goals, including four in the Premier League last term.

"Patrick was an outstanding performer last season, contributing not only solid defensive performances, but also assists and vital goals," manager Sam Allardyce told the club's official website.

"It is fantastic to be able to secure the long-term services of such a talented footballer and athlete, who will hopefully continue to improve here for many years to come."

Van Aanholt has made six appearances for Netherlands and featured in their last two international friendlies.
