Cristian Romero completes a medical for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of signing a five-year deal at the club, according to a report.

Cristian Romero has reportedly completed a medical for Tottenham Hotspur and will arrive in London on Friday morning to finalise a move to the North London club.

The Argentina international has emerged as Tottenham's leading centre-back target in recent weeks, and the Premier League club have been locked in talks with Atalanta over a deal.

A breakthrough allegedly arrived when Spurs agreed to pay £47m for the 23-year-old, and according to Sky Sports News, the defender has now completed a medical with Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

The report claims that Romero will sign a five-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the move expected to be announced on Friday.

The South American will become the second-most expensive signing in Tottenham's history after Tanguy Ndombele arrived for £54m from Lyon in the summer of 2019.

Romero scored three times and registered five assists in 42 appearances at club level last term before helping his country win this year's Copa America.
