Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino says that his side will improve as a result of club captain Hugo Lloris's World Cup win with France.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has promised that his side "are going to be better" as a result of club captain Hugo Lloris's World Cup win with France.

Lloris, who also captains his national team, helped Les Bleus to their second World Cup title after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final of this summer's tournament in Russia.

Pochettino, who has come under criticism after failing to sign a single player this summer, believes that Tottenham will nevertheless improve due to the experience gained by their existing players.

"It's difficult to manage Hugo eh? You cannot talk to him in the same way as before. Now he says 'I am World Champion!' No, it's unbelievable because he's so humble," said the Argentine in a pre-match press conference.

"Now we have players who competed at a high level in the World Cup and now we have the captain who is the world champion, the one who lifted the trophy"

"That is I think a fantastic experience for him to translate to our team. For sure we are going to be better, no doubt about that."

Tottenham will begin their 2018-19 Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Newcastle United on Saturday.
