Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane reportedly eyes the France job after Didier Deschamps's contract expires at the end of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly set his sights on becoming the next France manager after Didier Deschamps.

Deschamps has been in charge of Les Bleus since 2012 and guided the national side to a World Cup triumph in 2018, and the 52-year-old is expected to remain with France until the end of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Zidane's reign as Real Madrid manager came to an end in May after his second spell as boss of Los Blancos saw him win the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup during the 2019-20 campaign.

L'Equipe reports that Zidane is prepared to be patient for the French job to become available, and that is the next job he has set his sights on claiming.

Zidane scored 31 goals in 108 matches for France and won the 1998 World Cup during his playing career, with the report suggesting that he would be a strong candidate for the job, especially as he is a favourite among the French fans.

France departed this summer's Euro 2020 tournament in the last-16 stage, but will be looking to defend their world champion status next winter.
