Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has penned a new contract with the French giants, which will run until 2022.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona over the last 12 months, but the 23-year-old has decided to commit his future to the club that he joined from Roma in 2013.

"I have always said I'm happy to play for Paris St Germain, and this contract extension is further proof of my commitment to the club," Marquinhos told the club's official website.

"I feel very good at this club and with this group of players whom I am with every day. I have found here the perfect place to flourish and hope to win many more trophies."

Marquinhos, who has won 12 domestic trophies since arriving at PSG, made 44 appearances in all competitions for his French club during the 2016-17 campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian defender Marquinhos (L) vies with Real Madrid's Spanish midfielder Isco during the UEFA Champions League football match Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) vs Real Madrid, on October 21, 2015 at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.
