Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to negotiate a £3m pay rise after guiding the club to three trophies last season.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly asked for a £3m pay rise after guiding Manchester United to three trophies last season.

Having won the Europa League, the EFL Cup and Community Shield in his first year at Old Trafford, the Portuguese has overseen a strong start to the current campaign.

United sit five points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League and are on the verge of reaching the Champions League knockout stages after four straight group-stage wins.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Mourinho believes that he deserves a salary increase and has already tasked his agent, Jorge Mendes, with negotiating this with the club.

The report goes on to claim that Mendes has planned talks with United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward at the start of the new year.

Mourinho's current salary is believed to be in the region of £15m per year.
