Tom Curran is given the nod to replace Steven Finn in England's Ashes squad, with Liam Plunkett and Mark Wood again being overlooked for selection.

Surrey all-rounder Tom Curran has been called up to England's squad for this winter's Ashes as a replacement for the injured Steven Finn.

Finn was ruled out of the entirety of the tour Down Under on Tuesday morning due to a knee cartilage problem sustained in training last week.

England have moved quickly to bring in another option, with Curran due to fly out to Australia in the next 24 hours to bolster his side's options.

The 22-year-old has yet to play a Test match for England, but he has earned praise from coach Trevor Bayliss in the recent past after impressive showings in T20 and one-day international cricket this year.

Having been given the nod over the likes of Liam Plunkett and Mark Wood, Curran is expected to cancel his deal with the Hobart Hurricanes, who he was due to play for in this season's Big Bash.
