Morgan Schneiderlin admits fears that he "jumped ship" too early at Manchester United.

Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted a sense of concern that he "jumped ship" too early at Manchester United, having left the club after less than two seasons at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman completed a £25m move to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer of 2015 following an excellent series of performances at Southampton.

However, following a disappointing 2015-16 campaign under Louis van Gaal, Schneiderlin left United in the 2017 January transfer window after it became clear that he was not in Jose Mourinho's plans.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, the midfielder said: "I wanted to do more and I had the capacity to do more. Maybe I jumped out of the boat too quickly when I didn't play for three months.

"When I look at other players having a great career at Manchester United, they all had a spell of four or five months when they didn't play."

Schneiderlin was announced as a new signing along with World Cup winner and fellow midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, leading to enormous excitement among supporters, only for neither player to last two years in Manchester.

The 29-year-old has since joined Everton, making 70 appearances for the Toffees across two-and-a-half seasons.
