Secret Celebrity Drag Race likely to return for second season
The executive producers of RuPaul's Drag Race suggest that the recent celebrity spinoff will be renewed for a second season.

The executive producers of RuPaul's Drag Race have suggested that the recent celebrity spinoff will return for a second season.

The four-episode RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race saw three different celebrities undergo a drag makeover each week, with contestants on season one including Vanessa Williams, Matt Iseman and Nico Tortorella.

Discussing the spinoff, exec producer Randy Barbato told Variety: "We've talked about 'Celebrity Drag Race' for a long time. One of RuPaul's favourite episodes of drag race every season is the makeover episode.

"There's something incredibly powerful about watching non-drag queens get into drag. It was inevitable that we'd do this. It just was a matter of time."

Fellow ep Tom Campbell added: "I think next time, now that people can see what it is, we get a lot more people to come aboard. I'm a nervous Nellie, and anytime we try something new, I'm always concerned: Will it translate, will it have the same emotion or whatever.

"And as we were shooting the celebrity drag queens, we were tearing up in the control room. We were cheering for the lip-syncs. We were gagged. It's hard to believe that those emotions could happen."

The 12th season of the main show wrapped last night, while the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars will get underway next week.
