Newcastle United are reportedly pondering a move for Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw this summer.

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw this summer.

Widespread reports have indicated that the England international is likely to leave Old Trafford after being publicly bashed by manager Jose Mourinho once again.

The Portuguese coach singled out the 22-year-old for criticism at the weekend after substituting him at half time of United's FA Cup quarter-final victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has been alerted to the situation surrounding Shaw and is pondering whether to launch an offer at the end of the season.

The publication claims that the Magpies made contact ahead of the January transfer window, but failed to get a deal over the line as United placed a £20m price tag on Shaw.

The left-back has been at United since his £30m switch from Southampton in 2014.
