Manchester United's search for new goalkeeper is reportedly being hampered by uncertainty over the proposed sale of the club.

Manchester United's search for a new goalkeeper has reportedly been hampered by uncertainty over the sale of the club.

David de Gea's error against West Ham United at the weekend has started discussions again about his future, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Glazers are still yet to decide whether to sell the club or simply refinance it to either Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, meaning potential transfer funds are still unclear.

TalkSport claims that Erik ten Hag is being made to wait before seeing how much he will be able to spend in the summer.

Ten Hag is said to want De Gea to stay though, and talks are ongoing over a new deal which will see the Spaniard take a pay cut.

Jack Butland is currently United's number two, but he has not played a league match in over a year, while Dean Henderson is out on loan and Tom Heaton is injured.

Brentford's David Raya is one of the goalkeepers who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but whether that will be to become their number one, or to provide competition to De Gea is still not known.
