AC Milan are reportedly optimistic about Rafael Leao signing a new deal at the club, despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

AC Milan are reportedly confident that Rafael Leao will sign a new deal at the club despite interest from a trio of Premier League clubs.

The Portuguese international is currently tied down to Milan until 2024 but has become a target for some of Europe's elite thanks to his form across the last year.

According to Calciomercato, Milan are 'optimistic' that he will sign a new deal and are hoping that their strong rapport with Leao's agent Jorge Mendes will be enough to resolve a contract extension.

Leao is reportedly asking for €9m (£7.7m) per season whilst Milan had offered €6m (£5.1m) plus bonuses, and are hoping to bridge the gap with add-ons.

Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all reportedly interested in the player and will hope to take advantage of any breakdowns in contract talks.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a key figure for Stefano Pioli's side having scored 11 times and assisted a further 10 last season as Milan ended their 11-year wait for a league title.

That form has carried on into this season with Leao managing seven goals and nine assists in just 20 appearances, as well as a goal in the group stages against Ghana at the World Cup.
