Mkhitaryan 'missed offensive play at United'

Arsenal's Henrikh Mkhitaryan says that he pined for "offensive football" during his time at Manchester United.

Arsenal forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan has taken a subtle swipe at Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and the play style he favoured during his time at Old Trafford.

The Armenia international said that he was delighted to join the Gunners because he "missed playing offensively" under the Portuguese coach.

"When I heard I could swap Man United for Arsenal, I said, "Yes, I want to do that", I didn't think twice," he told FourFourTwo.

"It's important for me to play in an offensive team. I couldn't have imagined a better start (providing three assists in his home debut against Everton). I'd missed playing offensively. I joined Arsenal because Wenger wanted me, not because he wanted to replace Sanchez.

"We are different players and characters, with different abilities and skills, so I'll try my best to do everything for the club."

Mkhitaryan and Arsenal are in Europa League action this evening when they take on CSKA Moscow in the quarter-finals of the competition.
