Ipswich Town intend to appoint Manchester United first-team coach Kieran McKenna as their new boss, according to a report.

Ipswich Town are reportedly on the verge of appointing Manchester United first-team coach Kieran McKenna as their new boss.

McKenna remained at Old Trafford following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure, while he did not follow Michael Carrick out of the club despite Ralf Rangnick's arrival as new interim manager.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old will be appointed as Ipswich's new head coach, with the League One outfit looking to replace the sacked Paul Cook.

The report claims that former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes was also in the frame for the role, but McKenna has been chosen as the man to lead the club forward.

The Northern Irishman was promoted from Man United Under-18s coach to a first-team coaching role by Jose Mourinho for the 2018-19 campaign.

McKenna is believed to have been heavily involved in the club's training sessions during Solskjaer's time as head coach.
