Wednesday's EFL Cup predictions including Manchester United vs. Burnley

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's EFL Cup fixtures, including Manchester United vs. Burnley.

Nottingham Forest resume competitive action on Wednesday evening as they square off against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup fourth round.

At a time when Forest occupy 18th spot in the Premier League, Blackburn continue to hold third position in the Championship.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Nottingham Forest

On the back of their terrific win at the weekend, Blackburn will be confident of securing another Premier League scalp. However, we have to respect Forest's superior quality and form before the break, leading us to predict a narrow away victory.

Charlton vs. Brighton (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

After more than a month without competitive action, Brighton & Hove Albion return to the fray on Wednesday, when they visit managerless Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup.

While Brighton will resume their Premier League campaign inside the top half of the table, their League One hosts have not only lost three straight games but also exited two other cup competitions during the past month.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-3 Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton may be a little rusty, having only just reassembled their full squad, but an abundance of top-tier quality is available to ambitious boss De Zerbi. Eager to continue making his mark at the South Coast club, the highly-regarded Italian will surely take Wednesday's tie seriously, which bodes ill for a Charlton side in some disarray.

Man Utd vs. Burnley (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Manchester United will be looking to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup when they welcome Championship leaders Burnley to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils recorded a 4-2 victory over Aston Villa to advance to this stage of the competition, while Burnley have beaten both Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town in this season's tournament.

We say: Manchester United 2-1 Burnley

Burnley will fancy their chances of causing an upset here considering that Man United will be missing a number of important players, and we are expecting a very close match. Ten Hag will still be able to send a high-quality XI onto the field, though, and we are backing the home side to secure a narrow win.
