Raheem Sterling takes part in England training after being given an extended break by Gareth Southgate to resolve a 'private matter'.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has linked up with the England squad after being given extra time off by manager Gareth Southgate.

The 23-year-old was due to arrive at St George's Park at the start of the week, as the Three Lions begin their preparations for the upcoming World Cup finals in Russia.

Sterling was a notable absentee, though, which The Mirror put down to a 'private matter' that had to be resolved.

However, the former Liverpool ace was pictured training at England's base on Wednesday and will now remain part of the group going forward.

Gary Cahill, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have been given a week off due to their FA Cup exploits, while Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold - both in contention to start this weekend's Champions League final - will join up next month.
