British number three Cameron Norrie misses out on a place in the final of the Lyon Open after losing out to Gilles Simon.

Cameron Norrie has failed to reach his first ATP Tour final after losing in straight sets to Gilles Simon at the Lyon Open.

On Thursday, Norrie defeated world number 10 John Isner to record the biggest win of his career, but the British number three could not repeat his exploits against Simon.

The experienced Frenchman broke Norrie's serve on three occasions during the opening set, but Norrie improved during the second as the players shared 12 successive holds of serve.

However, it was Simon who held his nerve at the crucial moments in the tie-break, prevailing by an 8-6 scoreline to wrap up a 6-1 7-6 victory in just under 81 minutes.

Norrie will now head to the French Open, where he will play Germany's Peter Gojowczyk.
