Manchester City open talks with Raheem Sterling about a new deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the club's history, according to a report.

Manchester City have reportedly opened talks with Raheem Sterling about a new deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the club's history.

The 24-year-old signed a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola's side last November but his impressive form has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid, leading City to pursue a new deal.

According to Sky Sports News, 'positive' initial talks took place on Monday between the player's representatives and senior City officials Txiki Begiristain and Omar Berrada.

It is thought that the proposed new contract would see Sterling move from his current £275,000-a-week salary to well over the £350,000 a week currently picked up by Kevin De Bruyne.

The former Liverpool winger has scored 18 goals in 23 games this season for club and country.
