Manchester City defender John Stones reveals that he would "love" to stay at the club for the rest of his career.

Manchester City defender John Stones has revealed that he would "love" to stay at the club for the rest of his career.

England international Stones, who joined the Citizens from Everton for £47m in 2016, has been an important figure at the back under manager Pep Guardiola this season.

The 23-year-old centre-back also told City's official website that the prospect of becoming the club's captain has not passed him by.

"I would love to stay and play with the rest of the boys for the rest of my career," Stones said. "Some of the talent we have got and the potential, we could go on and do great things.

"I think you have got to earn [the captaincy]. I will keep on trying to do everything I can to be a leader in my own way and if it comes to being captain, I would be over the moon.

"I would love to deserve the honour of being the captain of your club. That takes time to prove yourself, to put that armband around your arm and lead the team."

City, who are still in contention for four trophies this season, face Arsenal in the EFL Cup final later this month.
