Pep Guardiola "satisfied" with Manchester City win

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes that his side's performance during their 3-1 win over West Ham was the best he has seen from the team in the league so far.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described his side's performance during their 3-1 victory over West Ham United this afternoon as their best of the Premier League season so far.

Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho put the hosts into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes at the Etihad Stadium before Michail Antonio halved the deficit shortly before the hour mark.

However, Sterling doubled his personal tally in stoppage time to wrap up the victory, and Guardiola talked up the importance of killing the game off against the likes of West Ham.

"Here we have to win 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 to think that the game is over because they play long balls behind our full-backs. They win the second balls, they are taller than us. They jump more than us but we played a real good game. I think our defence enjoyed it and we are happy with what happened in this match," he told Sky Sports News.

"The only way they scored a goal was to cross the ball and when that happens they are so dangerous. They are taller in the box so they play in that style and that can happen. Then it was 2-1 and the emotion, the tactics they are in. We created many, many chances. I don't know how many chances we create and how many shots on the goal. The performance was really, really good with the ball and without the ball.

"With the quality of our players we can be satisfied. In Bucharest we played amazing. In the Premier League it's complicated - against Sunderland we played good for just minutes and Stoke City we adapted really really well in the conditions and here we played maybe the best minutes in the Premier League."

The result sees City climb to the top of the Premier League table as one of only three teams to have a 100% record after three games.
