Wilfried Bony joins Stoke City on loan

Ivorian forward Wilfried Bony leaves Manchester City to join Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign.

Ivorian forward Wilfried Bony has left Manchester City to join Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign.

The 27-year-old joined Man City from Swansea City in January 2014 off the back of scoring 35 times in 70 appearances during his time in Wales.

Bony has struggled for regular football in Manchester, however, and has only netted six Premier League goals in 36 appearances for the Citizens, who have further boosted their forward-line in this summer's transfer window.

An Ivory Coast international of 44 caps, Bony started his professional career with local team Issia Wazy before making the move to Czech side Sparta Prague in 2008, where he spent three years.

Wilfried Bony of Manchester City celebrates his teams opening goal, an own goal by Adil Rami of Sevilla during the UEFA Champions League Group D match between Manchester City and Sevilla at Etihad Stadium on October 21, 2015 in Manchester, United Kingdom.
