The Football Association grants Sergio Aguero an extra 24 hours to answer his misconduct charge following Manchester City's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

The Football Association has granted Sergio Aguero an additional 24 hours to respond to his charge of "an alleged act of violent conduct" during Manchester City's Premier League clash with West Ham United at the weekend.

The Argentine was hit with a misconduct charge on Tuesday afternoon after appearing to swing his elbow into the face of Hammers defender Winston Reid during Sunday's match at the Etihad Stadium, which Man City won 3-1.

Aguero initially had until 6pm on Wednesday to respond to the charge, but a 24-hour extension has been granted and the forward must now respond by September 1 at 6pm.

Referee Andre Marriner did not include the incident in his match report, but as it stands, Aguero is facing the possibility of a three-game ban, ruling him out of the Manchester derby with Manchester United on September 10.
