Liverpool plan to move for a new right-back during this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to move for a new right-back during this summer's transfer window.

Trent Alexander-Arnold remains the first-choice right-back for the Reds, featuring on 39 occasions this season, scoring three goals and contributing six assists in the process.

However, the 24-year-old's defensive capabilities continue to be questioned, and he has been used further forward in Liverpool's last two Premier League matches, providing an assist in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on April 9 and two assists in Monday's 6-1 win at Leeds United.

"Yeah, it's not the first time," Klopp told reporters when questioned on the new role after the draw with Arsenal. "We did that before but maybe it was not that obvious. We did that before, where we put Trent inside. Today in the build-up, Trent played more inside. Double six, that's how it is.

"We need to get used to it, obviously. I would say it is a big step to do that in a game against Arsenal. It opened up different opportunities for us.

"If you watch it back you will see that it will have to be learned when to use it. Hendo [Jordan Henderson] was not wide, stayed inside. Then we could really pass first pass down to Mo [Mohamed Salah]. Mo kept the ball really well today and we could go from there.

"I thought he did well. It was not the first time, but not for a while we executed it."

The England international's future at Anfield is allegedly not in doubt, but Klopp is considering using him further forward next season in a bid to utilise his attacking talents.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are therefore looking to bring a new right-back to the club in the upcoming market.

Calvin Ramsay arrived at the club last summer to boost their right-back options, but the 19-year-old has not made a single appearance this season due to injury.

There will be a host of changes at Anfield this summer, with Liverpool allegedly ready to let Fabio Carvalho leave on loan in search of regular action during the 2023-24 campaign.

Roberto Firmino's exit on a free transfer has already been confirmed, while Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set to depart at the end of their contracts.

Adrian only has a deal until this summer, while James Milner faces a decision, with the 37-year-old also among those to be out of contract at the end of June.

Arthur is also heading back to Juventus following an unsuccessful spell on loan, with Liverpool expected to have a number of incomings and outings in the upcoming market.

However, the Reds might not be able to offer Champions League football to new recruits, with the club currently sitting down in eighth position in the Premier League table, nine points off fourth-placed Newcastle United.
