A delighted Jurgen Klopp describes Liverpool's 4-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday as "everything I wish to see in a game of football".

Jurgen Klopp has described Liverpool's 4-1 win over West Ham United as "everything I wish to see in a game of football".

Emre Can, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino put the Reds in a commanding three-goal lead just before the hour at Anfield.

Sadio Mane then added a fourth for the hosts on 77 minutes to wrap up all three points after Michail Antonio had grabbed a goal back for the Hammers on 59 minutes.

The result puts Liverpool second in the Premier League table, and Klopp could not hide his joy at his side's performance and result.

"When I woke up this morning I didn't expect a game like this, it was a joy to watch for everybody," the German told BBC Sport after the game.

"It was intense, it was aggressive, it was angry, it was full of desire. I saw everything I wish to see in a game of football and it's not often you see that.

"We scored from a set-piece too. You only ever talk to me about set-pieces when we suffer from them so it's nice to score one too."

Liverpool return to action next Saturday as they welcome Newcastle United - managed by former Reds boss Rafael Benitez - at Anfield.
