Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner says that his side benefited from losing 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has said that his side were given "a lesson" by Tottenham Hotspur when the two teams met in September.

Spurs ran out convincing 4-0 victors at the John Smith's Stadium, with Huddersfield having previously recorded nine points from their opening half-a-dozen matches after gaining promotion from the Championship.

The reverse fixture is scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and Wagner has suggested that he and his first-team squad feel better prepared than they were for the first game in Yorkshire.

At a press conference, the 46-year-old told reporters: "We learn lessons every single day and every single match we play in the Premier League because we are so inexperienced. What the players have shown is that they are able to adapt quickly.

"In the first game, they showed us how strong a team they are. They can use every micro-mistake and are able to score. You have to be focused every single second and not give them any little chance because they can hurt you.

"We have found different setups against the top teams in the past. We will see what we will do on Saturday but this was a big lesson we learnt in the first game and has helped us over the next games of the season."

Huddersfield currently sit three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
