Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides a positive update on Thiago Alcantara after a hamstring injury ruled him out of the EFL Cup final win against Chelsea.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that Thiago Alcantara will be able to return from his hamstring injury within the next couple of weeks.

The Spaniard - who has endured bad luck with injuries since arriving at Anfield - was in tears on the bench at Wembley after sustaining the issue in the build-up to the EFL Cup final with Chelsea.

Subsequent reports stated that Thiago was forced to pull out of the starting XI with a tight hamstring, and Klopp does not expect the issue to keep the 30-year-old sidelined for long.

Speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup tie with Norwich City, Klopp said: "It was a very emotional moment. We were all surprised; I came in the dressing room, I watched the whole warming up and didn't see anything, then we came in, he is on the [treatment] bed and the physios tell me he feels something in the hamstring, which is not good.

"Then we had to make the decision he could not start. In this moment when you are that close to playing a final... for the one player who probably won the most silverware in the whole squad, or as much as the whole squad together, showing then this kind of emotion, I didn't like that he didn't feel that good, but the desire to play a final I liked a lot.

"He's fine again but not fit again. Like always, you don't know [how long he will be out] exactly. Weekend not sure, maybe Milan, after that definitely."

Thiago has struck two goals and one assist in 20 matches across all competitions for Liverpool this season but has only started 10 games in the Premier League.
