Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel admits that his side underperformed in their 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool, but is still confident that they will reach the semis.

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has insisted that his side are still confident of reaching the Europa League semi-finals despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool this evening.

The hosts needed skipper Mats Hummels to cancel out Divock Origi's opener at the Westfalenstadion as the Reds gained a slight advantage at the halfway stage of the tie.

Tuchel acknowledged that his side were far short of their best and didn't deserve to win the match, but believes that they have the quality to pull off the required result at Anfield next week.

"In a quarter-final it can be that you don't deserve to win and that was the case," he told BT Sport.

"This was exactly what we expected from Liverpool. But we expected ourselves to be better, freer in our passing and with a better rhythm. We are able to score away goals as well. We are not frightened and we are not too disappointed.

"Tonight was not our top performance and to win you need a top performance. We have been to a lot of places and scored and won. It's half-time and the players are confident. We are looking forward to the game at Anfield."

The result was just the third time in 17 matches since the turn of the year that Dortmund have failed to win.
