Raheem Sterling confident of Liverpool progression

Raheem Sterling says that Liverpool's passage to the last 16 of the Champions League is still in their hands.

Raheem Sterling has admitted that Liverpool's 2-2 Champions League draw with Ludogorets Razgrad was a setback in their bid to reach the last 16, but believes that the Reds' fate is still in their own hands.

Georgi Terziev netted an 88th-minute equaliser as Ludogorets denied Brendan Rodgers's side a priceless win in Bulgaria last night.

The result means that Liverpool must beat Basel at Anfield in their final Group B game to qualify for the second round, and Sterling is optimistic that his teammates can do it.

"It was a very intense game with two good teams. It's really hard to play here against Ludogorets," he told UEFA.com.

"I think we have to be disappointed we didn't take all three points but we find ourselves in a situation where we can decide our fate.

"We want to qualify for the next round and I think we're still in a good position."

First-half goals from Rickie Lambert and Jordan Henderson turned the game on its head after Dani Abalo opened the scoring with just three minutes on the clock in Razgrad.
