Liverpool will be out to equal a club record in the Champions League when they take on Benfica in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday.

The Reds eased into the knockout rounds with a 100% record from the group phase - claiming three wins on Porto, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid's turf earlier this season.

A 2-0 win at San Siro over Inter Milan soon followed for Liverpool, who did go on to lose 1-0 to the Nerazzurri at home before progressing courtesy of a 2-1 aggregate success.

Should Jurgen Klopp steer his side to victory on Tuesday, Liverpool will match their record of five consecutive away wins in the European Cup - first set between 1983 and 1984 by Joe Fagan.

Ironically, it was Benfica who prevented the Reds going a sixth game unbeaten away from home in Europe under Fagan, as the Portuguese side won 1-0 in the last-16 of the 1984-85 edition.

Liverpool head into Tuesday's game on the back of a 2-0 win over Watford in the Premier League, with that result seeing them briefly rise to the top before Manchester City beat Burnley by the same scoreline.
