England defender Harry Maguire says that the Three Lions are ready for the pressure of this weekend's World Cup quarter-final against Sweden.

England defender Harry Maguire has insisted that the Three Lions can handle the pressure of this weekend's World Cup quarter-final clash with Sweden.

The Leicester City star said that the national team is feeling "hungry" and "fearless" ahead of the match in Samara.

"There were a lot of questions about us," The Mirror quotes Maguire as saying. "We're a young team, we haven't got that experience, but we're hungry, we're fearless and the boys have shown great character.

"We've won a knockout game and we're into the quarter-finals. It's not happened recently, so it's a good chance for us. There might be more pressure, but we're all ready for it.

"It's really big. You've seen, over the past few years, how we've lost shootouts in knockout games, so this has changed that. We can take that confidence into the next game."

England reached the quarters by defeating Colombia 4-3 on penalties in the last 16 of the tournament.
