Andreas Granqvist questions why England fans are so confident ahead of this weekend's meeting against Sweden, with a place in the last four of the World Cup on the line.

Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist has warned England supporters to write his side off at their peril ahead of this weekend's World Cup quarter-final.

A place in the final four of the showpiece competition, where one of Russia or Croatia await, is up for grabs when the two sides lock horns in Samara on Saturday.

England are the only previous world champions in their half of the draw and head into the match as favourites, but Granqvist was keen to point out that Sweden tend to hold their own against the Three Lions.

"I read something about people in England suggesting that Sweden were a dream opponent," he told reporters. "Someone said something about 99 times out of 100 they would beat us?

"Well, it's fun for England to have that sort of confidence. Let's play the game and see how things go. Sweden usually play well against England. We've had good results against them."

England have played Sweden 24 times, winning eight, losing seven and drawing nine of those previous encounters.
