FA Trophy tie delayed for referee to move car

Saturday's FA Trophy tie between Curzon Ashton and Chester FC was delayed during the first half so that the referee could move his car.

Saturday's FA Trophy tie between Curzon Ashton and Chester FC was delayed during the first half to allow the referee to move his car.

The two National League North clubs were taking a break from league action to square off at the Tameside Stadium.

However, 15 minutes into the contest, the referee was forced to bring a halt to proceedings, a consequence of a message on the tannoy.

Having realised that his car needed to be moved on the car park, the official informed a steward and was allowed to take the necessary action.

The game in the North-West quickly restarted with Chester heading into half time with a 1-0 advantage courtesy of Charlie Jolley's 40th-minute goal.
