Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso informs Atletico Madrid that he wants to join the Spanish giants this summer, according to a report.

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has reportedly informed Atletico Madrid that he wants to join the Spanish giants in this summer's transfer window.

Atletico are expected to be in the market for a new left-back this summer with Lucas Hernandez being sold to Bayern Munich and Filipe Luis tipped to leave on a free transfer.

The capital outfit have been linked with Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, but it has been claimed that contrary to reports, the club have not made an offer for the England international.

According to Marca, Alonso has told Atletico that he wants to move to the Wanda Metropolitano and it will now be up to Diego Simeone's side to agree a transfer fee with Chelsea.

The 28-year-old made 39 appearances for the Blues during their 2018-19 campaign, scoring four times and contributing seven assists. However, the Spaniard was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Europa League final.
