Bristol City confirm the signing of Burnley midfielder Scott Twine on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

Bristol City have announced the signing of Burnley midfielder Scott Twine on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 24-year-old has spent the first half of the season on loan at fellow Championship outfit Hull City, making 25 second-tier appearances for Liam Rosenior's side, scoring four goals.

Following the arrival of Liverpool loanee Fabio Carvalho at the MKM Stadium, there was a feeling that Twine would be recalled by Burnley in order to sort out another temporary move.

Since joining from League One side MK Dons in the summer of 2022, the attacking midfielder has featured 18 times for Vincent Kompany's side, scoring three times.

Twine will now reunite with Robins head coach Liam Manning at Ashton Gate for the remainder of the term, with the pair working together during the 2021-22 season at Stadium MK.

"As a team I'd like to finish as high as possible in the table and personally I want to score and create as many goals as I can," said Twine after being unveiled as a Bristol City player.

Manning's men are currently 14th in the Championship standings after 27 games, sitting just four points behind Coventry City in sixth place.

The Robins had earmarked attacking midfield as an area for improvement during the January window, and Manning has expressed his excitement about the arrival of Twine.

"I'm delighted to be able to bring Scott to the club, he's a fantastic person and exactly the type of player we need," Manning told the club's official website.

It has been confirmed that Twine is unavailable to feature in Bristol City's third-round FA Cup replay against West Ham United on Tuesday night, although he could make his debut against Watford on Saturday in the Championship.

City have also announced the permanent signing of midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman from West Bromwich Albion, with the 22-year-old spending the first half of the campaign on loan from The Hawthorns.

The two incomings at Ashton Gate have allowed Austria's Andreas Weimann to secure a temporary switch to Carlos Corberan's side, who are operating in a market of free transfers and loans amid takeover talks.

Twine's game time at Turf Moor looked severely threatened in the summer following the arrivals of Luca Koleosho, Zeki Amdouni and Wilson Odobert.

The Clarets announced their first signing of the January window last week, with striker David Datro Fofana joining on loan from Chelsea until the end of the term.
