Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly take an interest in signing Viktoria Plzen defender Ales Mateju.

Viktoria Plzen defender Ales Mateju has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ahead of their first campaign in the Premier League, Chris Hughton's team are being linked with a number of new signings and it appears that Mateju is on their radar.

According to The Sun, the Czech Republic Under-21 international has been invited to spend a period of time training with the Seagulls ahead of a potential move.

The right-back has already made 50 senior appearances for last season's runners-up, but Hughton wants to run the rule over the player before deciding whether to increase his efforts to sign him.

As it stands, Brighton have made four first-team signings ahead of their opening game of the season at home to Manchester City.
