Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is hopeful Adam Webster will recover from a minor groin strain to play against Aston Villa next weekend.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is hopeful that Adam Webster will be available to play against Aston Villa next weekend.

The Seagulls boss had to cope without both of his first-choice centre-backs for the 3-0 home defeat to Burnley on Saturday, with Webster picking up a minor groin strain in the build-up, while club captain Lewis Dunk was suspended.

Potter instead recalled Shane Duffy to the starting lineup, with Joel Veltman switching from right-back to centre-back and Tariq Lamptey also returning to the first XI.

Both Dunk and Webster had suffered with injury problems throughout this season, but Potter is hopeful that the latter will be in contention to feature against Villa.

"It was more fatigue than anything. A slight strain in his groin area so we are hopeful for Aston Villa," Potter told the Sussex Express.

Webster, 27, has made 15 Premier League appearances for Brighton this season, scoring two goals since the turn of the year against Chelsea and Watford.
