Next week's international friendly between Belgium and Portugal is cancelled after Tuesday's Brussels terror attacks which left over 30 dead.

Next week's international football friendly between Belgium and Portugal has been cancelled after yesterday's terror attacks in Brussels.

The so-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for three blasts in the Belgian capital which left over 30 dead and around 250 wounded.

Belgium cancelled their national team training session after the attacks yesterday and now the friendly against Portugal, due to take place in Brussels next Tuesday, has been called off.

In a statement, Belgian football said: "For security reasons and precaution, the City of Brussels has asked the Belgian FA to cancel the match Belgium vs. Portugal on 29 March.

"The match of our Belgian Red Devils against Portugal, scheduled Tuesday night at the King Baudouin Stadium, will not take place."

While most countries are playing two games in the current international break, the visit of Portugal was Belgium's only scheduled match so they will not play again until May 28 against Switzerland, leaving a six-month gap between matches for the world's number-one ranked country.

After the match against Switzerland, the Red Devils host Finland and Norway in their final two friendlies before their Euro 2016 opener against tough Group E opponents Italy on Monday, June 13.
