Morais: 'Barnsley a long-term project'
Barnsley manager Jose Morais reveals that he plans to stay at the club past his current 18-month deal, adding that he wants to "build the belief" inside the team.

Barnsley manager Jose Morais has revealed that he plans to stay at the club past his current 18-month deal, adding that he wants to "build the belief" inside the team.

Morais, who was appointed by his new employers following the departure of Paul Heckingbottom to Leeds United, will take charge of his first game on Tuesday evening against Championship bottom club Burton Albion.

The former Chelsea assistant coach told reporters at a press conference that he is keen on realising the team's potential while with the Tykes.

"I'm more than a coach," Morais said. "I'm a leader, I'm a coach with vision, not only about the way to play, but the way to live and a way to believe and make things greater, bigger and better.

"I definitely see Barnsley as a long-term project and this is the main reason they brought me here. It's a project for 18 months at the moment, but my thinking is much more than this.

"My way to live is challenging myself and challenging others about what they think is possible. I'm coming here to build the belief and to get the club nearer to reaching the goal - and the goal is to be stable in the league we're in."

Barnsley sit inside the relegation zone, just a point adrift of safety.
