Great Britain's Kyle Edmund drops out of the Argentina Open with a throat infection.

Kyle Edmund has withdrawn from this week's Argentina Open through illness.

The British number two was scheduled to take on Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round of the Buenos Aires tournament, but has bowed out with a throat infection.

Edmund, who reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open last month, is expected to return to action for the Rio Open next week, according to Sky Sports News.

Reaching the final of the Brazilian competition would see the 23-year-old overtake Andy Murray to become British number one for the first time.

Edmund is currently ranked 26th in the world.
