Ricardo Oliveira laughs off Barcelona talk

Santos forward Ricardo Oliveira claims that he "laughed" when he heard rumours that Barcelona wanted to sign him in the January transfer window.

Santos forward Ricardo Oliveira has denied claims that he has been contacted by Barcelona over a January move to the Catalan club.

The 35-year-old has scored 17 times for his Brazilian team this season and has also recently earned a recall to the Brazil national side.

A recent report claimed that Barcelona wanted to bring the experienced forward back to Spain, having previously represented Valencia, Real Betis and Real Zaragoza.

Oliveira, however, has insisted that he is paying no attention to the rumours as he concentrates on his current club.

"Santos's fans, my teammates and the club itself know that [the Barcelona rumours] are not true. I laughed when I saw these stories, but I took the precaution of making a statement just to clarify that there has been no contact," Oliveira told ESPN.

The experienced striker has had nine professional clubs during a well-travelled career.
