Barcelona are reportedly looking to offload a number of key players in a major summer overhaul and will threaten those reluctant to leave with pay cuts.

Barcelona are reportedly planning to force a number of key players out of the club this summer by imposing pay cuts on those reluctant to leave.

The Spanish giants are expected to undergo a major overhaul from the top to the bottom of the club following a trophyless campaign which ended with an embarrassing 8-2 Champions League quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich last week.

Manager Quique Setien has already been sacked and is set to be replaced by Ronald Koeman, who along with sporting director Eric Abidal will be charged with rebuilding the squad amid financial difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Spanish outlet Cadena Ser claims that the club are looking to offload a number of key players in order to trim their wage bill, with Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Jordi Alba among those up for sale.

The report goes on to state that Barcelona will look to encourage them to leave the club, and that if they refuse an exit then the club would look to impose a pay cut on some players.

Suarez has been linked with a return to Ajax, while Rakitic could also move back to a former club with Sevilla holding a long-standing interest in the Croatia international.
