Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has hinted that Mile Jedinak has agreed to join the club from Crystal Palace.

Last week, it emerged that manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen to add the Australian to his squad before the end of the month.

Jedinak himself played down rumours that he could leave Selhurst Park following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

However, on Twitter, Xia suggested to a supporter that a deal has already been finalised.

The fan asked: "Is Miles Jedinak happening Tony? Don't let Newcastle steal him."

Xia responded: "Nobody can steal if he's delighted to be with us; also you can't keep him if his heart was not with us! #UTV"

Jedinak, who admitted last week that he was upset to lose the captaincy to Scott Dann, has made 178 appearances for Palace and scored 10 goals since signing for the club in 2011.
