Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown hints that the Gunners could lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil if Arsene Wenger does not improve his squad this summer.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has claimed that Arsene Wenger will need to spend money in this summer's transfer window in order to keep the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the club.

It has been reported that both Sanchez and Ozil are considering their futures after Arsenal's Premier League title challenge once again unravelled.

Keown is confident that the Gunners can tie Sanchez and Ozil to new long-term contracts, but believes that Wenger will need to "be active in the transfer market" in order to stop key players seeking pastures new.

"I think he'll be active in the transfer market. It'll be a lot easier to sign Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new deals if the team is being supplemented with top talent," Keown told the Daily Mail. "Arsenal have stopped bleeding players, but it could happen again if Arsene doesn't recruit well now."

Arsenal will travel to Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
