Arsenal are reportedly closing in on finalising a new long-term contract with winger Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal have reportedly moved closer to finalising a new long-term contract with Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners are currently enjoying their strongest season in two decades, the club sitting at the top of the Premier League standings.

However, while focus is firmly on trying to convert their two-point advantage over Manchester City, with a game in hand, into a trophy, attention is also being paid to matters off the pitch.

Arsenal officials are attempting to tie down some of their key players to extended terms, something which was recently achieved with Gabriel Martinelli.

The North Londoners also need to move fast with regards to Saka, who occupies the opposite flank to the Brazilian, with his deal due to expire in 2024.

As expected, the situation has been monitored by a number of top European clubs, a consequence of the 21-year-old's sparkling form since graduating from the club's academy.

Nevertheless, as reported by the Daily Mail, the England international is on the brink of committing his future to Arsenal.

The report claims that the top-flight frontrunners are prepared to commit to a long-term contract which will be worth at least £10m per year.

Although terms are yet to be made official, Saka is said to have expressed a desire to remain at the Emirates Stadium for the next phase of his career.

Saka has recorded a total of 33 goals and 37 assists from 162 appearances in all competitions, with 50 of those contributions coming in the Premier League.

The versatile wideman featured in every top-flight fixture last season, chipping in with 11 goals and seven assists, and he has already provided nine strikes and eight assists this campaign.

Such has been Saka's progression that he started four of England's five matches at the World Cup, scoring three times before the Three Lions bowed out at the quarter-final stage.

As well as Martinelli and Saka, Arsenal are allegedly holding discussions with Granit Xhaka, whose contract expires at the same time as Saka's.
