Arsenal reportedly step up their pursuit of Guingamp forward Marcus Thuram by making a 'serious approach' for the 21-year-old, but they could face competition from Dortmund.

Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Guingamp forward Marcus Thuram by making a 'serious approach' for the 21-year-old.

Thuram's form this season is understood to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs around Europe, having scored nine goals for a side battling against relegation from Ligue 1.

French outlet Le10 Sport claims that Arsenal have tried to steal a march on their competitors by making a move for the striker, with Unai Emery knowing the Ligue 1 market well following his time as Paris Saint-Germain boss.

However, the Gunners are expected to face competition from Borussia Dortmund, who are also understood to have officially registered their interest in Thuram.

Guingamp currently sit seven points from safety in Ligue 1, and should they suffer relegation this season then Thuram is almost certain to leave the club in search of top-flight football.

Marcus Thuram is the son of World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, who won a record 142 caps for France between 1994 and 2008.
