A report claims that Arsenal are in the running to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicola Barella, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Juventus.

Arsenal are the latest side to have shown an interest in highly-rated Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to a report.

The 21-year-old has already been touted as a potential January transfer target for a number of clubs, including the Gunners' top-flight rivals Liverpool.

Barella, who starred for Italy in their 1-0 win over Poland on Sunday evening, has supposedly been watched up close by Arsenal scouts this season.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that the twice-capped Italy international is seen as a potential successor to Aaron Ramsey, as Arsenal prepare for the Welshman's expected end-of-season departure.

Serie A trio AC Milan, Roma and Juventus are also among Barella's rumoured suitors, but Juve have baulked at Cagliari's price tag.
