Milwaukee Bucks GM John Hammond signs two-year contract extension

The Milwaukee Bucks announce that they have agreed a two-year contract extension with general manager John Hammond.

The Milwaukee Bucks have confirmed that they have signed general manager John Hammond to a two-year contract extension.

The 61-year-old joined the Bucks in 2008 when he replaced Larry Harris in the role and helped assemble a roster to get the club into the playoffs in the 2009-10 season.

Hammond was named NBA Executive of the Year for his exploits, despite the team's first-round elimination. Milwaukee have reached the post-season a further two times under his tenure, but are yet to progress beyond the first round.

However, the club have secured Hammond's future at the club by penning him to a contract until 2017.

"A great deal of our team's success and progress is due to the vision and hard work of John," Bucks owner Wes Edens said in a statement.

"He's assembled a talented and competitive roster and we're very pleased that he will continue to lead basketball operations. With John and Coach Kidd at the helm, our young team has a very bright future."

The Bucks posted a 41-41 record last season, but were knocked out of the playoffs by the Chicago Bulls.
