Result: Christine Ohuruogu, Emily Diamond through to 400m semis

Team GB's Christine Ohuruogu and Emily Diamond progress to the semi-finals of the women's 400m in Rio de Janeiro.

Team GB runners Christine Ohuruogu and Emily Diamond have both progressed to the semi-finals of the women's 400m in Rio de Janeiro.

Ohuruogu - defending silver medallist from London 2012 - qualified automatically after finishing second in her heat with a time of 51.40s, nine-hundredths of a second behind the USA's Natasha Hastings.

Diamond was fourth in her heat with a time of 51.76s but qualified as a fastest loser after finishing in 18th place overall from a field of 57 athletes.

It was disappointment for GB's Seren Bundy-Davies as she finished last in her heat with a time of 53.63s, ranking her 49th overall in the qualifiers.

The semi-finals take place tomorrow, with the final following on Monday.
