Result: Robert Grabarz fourth in Olympic high jump final

Great Britain's Robert Grabarz finishes in fourth place in the high jump final at the Olympic Games.

Great Britain's Robert Grabarz has missed out on a second successive Olympic medal after finishing in fourth place in Rio de Janeiro.

Four years ago in London, Grabarz claimed bronze but despite recording a season's best of 2.33m, he missed out to Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko.

One failure at 2.25m would prove costly as Bondarenko earned bronze on countback but Grabarz was slightly fortunate to be awarded a clearance at 2.33m.

The 28-year-old received a white flag after jumping over the height but seconds later, the bar dropped to the ground which resulted in a red flag being given.

Grabarz successfully appealed the decision but three failed attempts at 2.36m left him outside of the medal positions.

Canada's Derek Drouin won gold with an effort of 2.38m while Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim won the silver with 2.36m.
